Our Outcomes

At St. Edmund’s, we are proud of the progress and achievements of our children. Our assessment outcomes reflect many areas of real strength, alongside our continued commitment to improving outcomes for every pupil.

An excellent start in Early Years

Our youngest children achieve exceptionally well.

In 2025–26, 90% of children achieved a Good Level of Development at the end of Reception, compared with approximately 72% nationally. This represents a significant strength for the school and demonstrates the strong foundations children develop during their first year with us.

Exceptional multiplication knowledge

Our Year 4 pupils achieved outstanding outcomes in the national Multiplication Tables Check.

83% of pupils achieved full marks – 25 out of 25 – compared with approximately 44% nationally. The average score was 24.8 out of 25, substantially above the national average of approximately 21.6.

This strong knowledge of number facts provides children with an important foundation for increasingly complex mathematics as they move through the school.

Strong reading and writing outcomes

At the end of Key Stage 2, 78% of pupils achieved the expected standard in Reading, above the national figure of 75%.

In Writing, 74% achieved the expected standard, also slightly above the national figure of 73%.

We are particularly pleased to see the continued improvement in Reading, with the proportion reaching the expected standard increasing from 65% in 2023 to 78% in 2026.

Strong achievement in Science

Science is another area of strength. In 2025–26, 93% of Year 6 pupils achieved the expected standard, compared with 82% nationally.

Building confident readers

While the proportion of Year 1 pupils reaching the expected standard in the Phonics Screening Check remains an area we are continuing to strengthen, pupils demonstrate strong catch-up as they progress through the school.

By the end of Year 2, 92% of pupils had met the phonics standard, slightly above the national figure of approximately 91%.

This reflects our commitment to identifying children who need additional support and helping them to become confident, successful readers.

Continuing to improve

We are ambitious for every child at St. Edmund’s.

Our results show significant strengths, particularly in Early Years, reading, writing, science and multiplication fluency. We also recognise where outcomes need to improve further, particularly in aspects of mathematics, grammar, punctuation and spelling, and the proportion of pupils reaching the higher standards at Key Stage 2.

These areas form part of our ongoing school improvement work. Through high-quality teaching, careful assessment and timely support, we are committed to ensuring that every child is given the opportunity to flourish and achieve their very best.
